The Serum Institute of India will donate 20 million doses of measles-rubella vaccine to the GAVI Alliance as part of that organization's initiative to reduce the mortality rate caused by measles-rubella in the developing world. GAVI's initiative will launch next year. "Our contribution will give a push of $11 million to GAVI's initiative," Cyrus Poonawalla, chairman and managing director of the Serum Institute, told The Indian Express. Previously, the institute has made a wide range of vaccines available to UNICEF and the Pan American Health Organization at affordable prices. Report
