Australia accused of wasting millions on swine flu vax
Australia's Health Department has been accused of wasting millions of dollars on a vaccine in response to last year's swine flu pandemic. The government purchased 21 million doses of the H1N1 Panvax vaccine late last year, for more than AU$100 million. However, departmental figures show just 9.3 million doses have been distributed across the country--and 2.1 million doses donated to the World Health Organization--with most of the 9.6 million remaining batches set to reach their expiration date in less than two months.
